With great power comes great responsibility, but what if you knew you could change the fate of those you love? Would you risk a universe for one person?
If you know the podcast or have been a fan of the website you will know I will always tell you Spiderman is one of the greatest Marvel characters of all time. No matter who wears the mask!
The Mile Morales universe, based on the amazing Ultimate run of comics, has been a huge hit so far but can it over take the popularity of Tom Holland’s webcrawler? This fan believes possibly.
Now My favourite spider is Tom Holland, closely followed by Andrew Garfield, but in regards to story Across the Spiderverse is a great opening to explore the wider spiderverse and hopefully give us more story arcs Like Spider Island and the one with the vampire guys (I forget the name of that run)
Across The Spiderverse focuses on both Gwen and Miles as they try and take on their own troubles across their own universes. Gwen however is the more central plot point in my eyes. Her loss of her own peter (who is her universes version of the Lizard, to her father finding out about her secret I would have been very happy to have a Ghost Spider centric movie, however you need that innocence of Miles to push it in the direction I can see this going.
Why is it always a siderman trying to muck about with space and time, it is a theme we have seen a lot from No Way Home to Across the spiderverse. We even get a nod to Now Way Home thrown into this film for good measure.
I loved the big cliffhanger of an ending from both characters points of view. What is going to happen to Miles? We get the return of old friends and new ones too. Yes the visual styles are good, even though it can boogle your eyes a little (i’m looking at you Spider Punk), but this really gives the series its own feel.
I am excited to see how much further we are jumping in to the series, how many more cameos can be added to it, I especially laughed at the unexpected Venom movie cameo, and how sony will link this to the rumoured extended universe shows link Silk (if they even will!)
If you are a webhead like me you will adore this film.
