The film follows the misadventures of Max and his crazy group of animal friends who life within the the same blocks of apartments in the busy city of New York. Max knows little else about life other than his owner Katie who he loves and adores but when Katie brings home a hulking stray named Duke from the pound life for Max becomes much much harder.
As the two try and work out their dominance they end up ambushed by a gang of alley cats, lose their collars and are taken by Animal Control. This is where they meet Snowball and his gang of Disowned pets. Meanwhile, knowing her friend may be in trouble Gidget, a small dog with attitude, rally's a rag tag team of animals to head into the streets of New York to find her friend.
It is a story about friendship and not judging a book by its cover. It's about stubbornness and pride and this is a good life lesson for children and even some adults among us. We also get the psycho bunny Snowball, who is voice by the very funny Kevin Hart. Snowball is the best character in this film for me, he is hilarious and very well played by Kevin Hart. I was also surprised that the voice of Duke was Eric Stonestreet who you will all know as Cam in the hit US TV show Modern Family, to be honest i thought it sounded more like Seth Rogan but there you go.
This film is the perfect summer kids film, full of action, comedy and emotional moments which will melt your heart. If you are looking for the best animated film so far this summer this is your winner.
