Golden Years is a very British type of comedy, which I personally think would have been better suited to a series on one of the main channels like ITV or even Sky1 but as a whole this is a very funny little film. I love the premise of it, it's not something you really see outside of a gangster setting, these are normal everyday pensioners who are sick of being treated like rubbish.
We have some very funny scenes from the female members of the cast but the only really good male character in this whole film is Arthur, who is played by Bernard Hill (who you may remember as Theoden in Lord of the Rings). He is a endearing character who you can see from the off is just trying to do well by his sick wife.
This is a funny little film with a lighthearted edge, a type of film which is perfect for a weekend afternoon sit down. This may however go over the heads of american viewers though.
