King of Fighters XIV is the latest installment of the King of Fighters series, an exclusive to PlayStation 4 title I may add, which has a Street Fighter IV style feel with so much more to offer.
This is my first King of Fighters experience and this is a series I have seen about but never really tried (I'm not really a big beat em up game player). Directed by Yasuyuki Oda who previously worked on Street Fighter IV the game uses a 3D style fighting style on a beautifully designed 2D backdrop a style I actually really loved playing along with. The character desgins are brilliant each member of the roster having their own unique fight style and look and all part of several teams. I loved the syle of Kukai, a fighter who uses the power of sand, Billy Kane, the master of the pole and Choi Bounge, who pretty much looks like Freddy Kruger with bigger knife fingers, no seriously look at this picture:

Even not knowing the back history of these characters it was easy for a fighting novice to get to grips with things here. I love the 3 on 1 style but you really need to try everyone to get a perfect team sorted, which isn't a bad thing but as I said I don't really know much about this set of characters enough to pick quickly. The button system is fine, i'm more of a button basher when it comes to games like this, however the characters have enough moves for a novice to start of button mashing before getting good, and I like this.
Overall King of Fighters XIV is a fun little game, one which I enjoyed playing much more than Street Fighter IV and the recent two Mortal Kombat games. It is very complex with so many move combos and charcter combinations to perfect before your can master the game. The character designs made this game for me from the off as well which is always a nice addition to a very good game. I would suggest trying this one out, after all if you want to know about these characters you always have google.
